We proposed a solution that combined luxury with affordability, creating a true home cinema experience tailored to both fun and functionality.
To achieve the right ambiance, we gave the space a complete makeover using blackout PET acoustic panels, charcoal-finish thick curtains, cozy carpeting, and raised step flooring for a dual-level viewing setup. The result? A sleek, sophisticated space designed for immersive entertainment.
We installed a powerful 7.1 Dolby surround sound system from Monitor Audio, paired with an SVS subwoofer, all driven by a Denon amplifier. The experience is brought to life with a stunning 4K Dolby Vision BENQ 710 projector, seamlessly integrated with a Roku Ultra for smooth, high-quality playback — all delivering an authentic cinema vibe at a fraction of the usual cost.
What truly brought the room to life was our favorite touch: Zigbee-based smart automation. With tunable lights, RGB mood lighting, and motorized curtain control, the space becomes both dynamic and flexible — perfect for movie nights or letting the kids run around and play when the screen’s off.
Key Challenge
Transforming an outdoor terrace into a fully functional home cinema came with its own set of challenges. The open nature of the space required strategic planning to insulate it effectively and create an enclosed environment suitable for sound and light control. Ensuring proper acoustic treatment with blackout panels was essential to block external noise and maintain sound quality inside.
Another challenge was achieving the right balance between aesthetics and functionality. The space needed to be visually appealing, yet also child-friendly and practical. Dual-level flooring had to be safe yet enhance the cinema experience, and lighting had to serve both ambiance and visibility purposes.
Cost-efficiency was a key factor. The client wanted the experience of a high-end cinema but within a reasonable budget. This meant sourcing and integrating equipment that delivered exceptional performance without compromising affordability. Lastly, integrating smart technologies in a user-friendly way required seamless coordination between the AV system and the automation setup to ensure smooth, intuitive operation for the family.
